Begin the season of Lent with reflection upon our Lord and His healing grace for us!
Wednesday, March 5th is Ash Wednesday, a day marking the forty day season of Lent (not including Sundays) prior to Easter.
Ash Wednesday at St. Paul's and in the wider church has often been marked by the imposition of palm ashes upon the foreheads of those who wish to confess their mortality and their need for Jesus, for as according to our mortal nature "as dust you were, so to dust shall you return." With subdued rejoicing, we are grateful to God for the Savior He sent, Jesus Christ, so that dust is not all we are, or will be. On Ash Wednesday we celebrate our life and eternal life and our resurrection in Jesus, receiving from Him His body and blood in the Sacrament of the Altar.
You are invited to our Ash Wednesday service, and all our midweek Wednesday Lenten services at 7 p.m. Our theme this year is "A Hurting World and a Healing Christ." Our Ash Wednesday meditation looks at the hurt of unrestraint and how Jesus can repair what has been broken by lack of restraint.
